Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter

The Holidays

Well, it is the day after Christmas, and all through the shelter, shelter mom looks and sees such a mess. LOL!!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Christmas. Things here were the same, only with added duties of making Christmas dinner for family.

Way behind in doing litter boxes, and laundry, but that is usual when Christmas hits.

Donations are down this month, so many awful things happened this year, the hurricanes, the Toronto Rescue, the on going war, so many people losing their jobs, the economy is really down.

We didn't sell our dressing table. The highest bidder got laid off, so it still stands in the hallway. But that is ok. The only thing that sucks about that is the fees. But live and learn!!

We have gotten 8 adrenal surgeries done, three trips to the emergency vet ($300 a pop), some work to the shelter van (not everything, but some), paid off some old vet bills, purchase some stuff that seemed like a good idea for a fund raising, but it didn't work, all thanks to a wonderful person in vermilion, Ohio. We would have never been able to do any of that if it weren't for this person. I will always be grateful.

Still have 5 more surgeries to go.

We got a little boy in. Such a sad story. His name is Alvin. He was out in the cold, with his cage mate. His cage mate was dead when he was found, he is so sweet. Eating like a champ now, and putting on some weight. He will crawl into bed and sleep snuggled up next to you.

All we have to do is get that cold of his cleared up, so he can go up for adoption.

Enough rambling, I need more coffee, and there is so much to do I don't know what to do first. Sigh.

Peace, happiness and prosperity to all.

Jean

Yes, there is something there, and I don't know what, so if you want to see the Virgin Mother, I won't argue.

Hey, the worst that happens, it doesn't sell. The best that does, it sells and the shelter can get those "luxury" items.

Running this place there is one thing I have learned, you have to be creative in fundraising, and you need to keep doing it, so the funds stay in the black (if you can get them there in the first place!)

LOL
