Over the past couple of days, I had put in place plans for a possible turn in from a pet store. One that needed vet care.
The store apparently got the ferret help, and gave it to an employee, which is good, but me being me have my doubts. This person was told the pet store put over $300 in vet care into the ferret. See where my mind is going?
Yes, we do that here, but we are non profit. Our adoption fees don't cover half of what the ferrets need or get here. Stores are a profit thing. They can write off inventory, and to an extent what the cost of vet care was.
Look, I am not saying they didn't do what they said they did, but after 10 years of sheltering and dealing with pet stores, well....... And if they did do what they said, kudos to them, I applaud their actions.
Anyway, here is what I am getting at. If you see something like that, get the ferret, contact us. We will find a way to take care of the ferret's care. Ask for a discount, do whatever, we just want to help the ferret. Don't tell them you are going to bring it to a shelter, stores get funny about that, they think Animal Control, and abuse accusations, and a nasty boat load of legal stuff.
I commend the person who contacted the shelter asking how to help, and trying to help, but somehow the management got wind of it, and put the end to the shelter getting involved.
Anyway, that is it from this side of town. Hope everyone has a great day.
