Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter

Win $5000 for a shelter or a Cool Pet House

Jeld-Wen is a company that makes different home improvement items (I used to work in the Garage Door Industry and their garage doors are really good quality), well if you check out the link, it will bring you to their pet contest.

You can win $5000 for a shelter or the really cool pet house. Just tell them in 200 words or less why your pet is so reliable, cool, wonderful.

Wouldn't it be really cool if a ferret won?

So, why are you still reading this? Go to click on the title (the link) and get busy!!

Happy writing!!

An Easy Way to Help Ferrets Unlimited

Hi, this is Julie, one of the volunteers that tinkers with the shelter Web site. Please excuse my PSA. Amazon.com is one of my family's favorite places to shop online. Jean has signed up for the Amazon affiliate program, so if you shop using one of the Amazon links on this site, the shelter receives a small percentage. They have great prices on magazine subscriptions, books, music, videos, etc.

We do not have a partner shelter ANYWHERE

Someone is telling people that they are a partner shelter, or a part of Ferrets Unlimited or a branch of this shelter in Southern Ohio.

WE DO NOT HAVE A PARTNER/BRANCH/SISTER SHELTER. IF YOU DONATE ANYTHING TO THEM FOR US, IT ISN'T BEING DONATED TO FERRETS UNLIMITED AND IT IS NOT TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

We do recommend that people contact shelters in their area to see what ferrets are there for adoption, and tell them to be patient, because sometimes it take awhile to get an answer.

Someone could be lying on their adoption application, or someone could be confused, but I want to nip it in the bud right now.

Stamp Camp to Help the Ferrets Mark your Calendars!!

April 23, Louise is holding a "Stamp Camp" at her home in Sagamore Hills, Ohio at 4 PM.

She wants to make note cubes and Christmas Cards for auction and raffles to help raise funds. The flyer says please bring a Christmas Stamp set if you have one, and she will supply the rest, but I am sure she wouldn't to other stamps too.

She adopted Dimples and Sid (Sid is our paralyzed boy that is incontinent) and right now we are working on wheels for him.

I'll be there, I even have some ferret stamps!! No experience needed!! (Trust me, I have none!) So come one and all let's have a good time meet new friends and catch up with some old. This is going to be a good time.

Email Louise at: groovygram@adelphia.net for details and directions and address!! (Oh yeah, feel free to spread the word!)

Our eBay - Advertising on my Bald head

Well, the auction ended after ten days, 1400 people looked at the auction, and no bids.

That is fine, lots of my hair brained ideas for fund raising don't pan out. The only thing it cost was the listing fees. Wish it would have worked. It would have been a first!!

But, looking at it this way, the counter was set to count only first time viewers, so 1400 people did look, some knew about the shelter and ferrets, and lots of them didn't. Who knows, it may have made a few people think about ferrets as pets and got them to do some research. Or it could have let people know that can't keep their ferrets that shelters for ferrets do exist and they could look for one to help.

Either way, hopefully it helped some ferrets somewhere by letting folks know ferret shelters are real.

Here's dooking at ya'!

This that and the other Things

A friend of mine told me she finds the director's Corner full of valid issues that face non profits as well as entertaining. And I needed to do an up date because she got bored reading the same ones.

Right now we are doing an eBay, I really honestly don't think it will go anywhere, but I am trying. Can't say I don't try to think "outside" of the box. Check out our shopping area, and then hit the eBay link.

I am working on knitting scarves to help bring in funds for the shelter.

Shelter Wench Originals, "Doctor Who" Ugly Scarves. Basically they are scarves that I knit with whatever yarn I happen to pickup and use. Some of them aren't bad looking, but some are just butt ugly. The ugliest will go up on eBay. LOL!!!

This is a basic of what they look like, two different styles, they are about 6 feet long, and just a mix of colors. Dropped stitches, more than likely, uneven knitting, yes, but at least they are all unique, signed and everyone of them has a stripe of black. But they are warm.
