Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter

Frustrating Day.

I have been working like mad to do a local mass mailing. Had a brochure printed up, and I printed up all the letters, order forms, labels.

Been stuffing my heart out, sorting and making trips down to the bulk division of the post office.

Louise and the Larmiers' have been helping stuffing the 9 x 12 envelopes. Today's stuff will be the last to go out and I start on the newsletter.

One thing I have learned doing the mailing is that,

1. People still look at ferrets as nasty, mean, animals.
It is like when I started the shelter 12 years ago. Sigh. Doing the mailing I never thought I'd be getting nasty phone calls about how awful ferrets are.

2. It is backfiring. Turn ins are way up. I ran out of space. In order for me to make more room for the shelter, the office needs to go, and so does the living room, and dining area (which by the way right now is my little bulk mailing capital of Cleveland, Ohio)

3. People who would not call and yell at the Animal Protective League, veteran's Groups, or Salvation Army for sending them bulk mail call me and scream.

I have heard from more nasty, rude people since I started this then I can count.

4. Some people think I have power. I have been yelled at for domesticating ferrets, they should be free, for cutting down trees and building buildings that are ugly and take away from nature. I am the one responsible for the organized deer hunts they have done in in Northern Ohio to cull over populated herds.

5. I need to find a better way to try to fund raise, gather donations for door prizes and sponsorship for potential events.

Ok, maybe the nasty calls are getting to me. But if anyone has ideas, let me know, and remember the aspect of helping or volunteering to help.

Ok, back to writing up the postage reports, doing the news letter, printing the news letter, and the rest.

Yeah, it is one of those days, the phone is ringing, again.
