Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter

Musing

A friend of mine called and says "you're venting". I say "HUH?" She says "I read the Director's Corner, you are venting." I think a moment, and say "Yep, you are right."

You see, I view this area of the website a spot to not only try to announce things that are going on in the shelter, but also give you an idea of the frustration, and stress that goes along with running the shelter.

When I vent here, I really am at a loss to what else I can do. Sometimes the vent produces some really good ideas, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it brings in help, sometimes it doesn't. But mostly, it helps my mental state.

No things really haven't improved any, but at least I can take a few more days of nasty calls and letters. There always is that sliver lining in the cloud, just the clouds have been really dark lately, and that lining isn't that easy to find.

One things that bugs me is the fact that if the local APL (Animal Protective Leauge) had gotten a donation of a building from an anonymous donor, it would hit the media as a great feel good story.

Our local neighborhood newspaper, Old Brooklyn News ran a story (btw you gave the wrong email and spelled ferrets wrong). And the Parma Sun Post did a story. Both were well written, and I am grateful for that.

You see, it just get frustrating to see that after so many years of doing education, and knowing people across this country that do the same, it seems that not many people have learned, and many think it that ferrets should be euthanized rather than rescued. But that is a post for another day, and right now I have to pack up a couple of ferrets and run off to the vet.

He is always happy to see ferrets. LOL!!

Hug your ferrets, dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and human children (don't forget the significant others) today, and enjoy the weather.
