Sunday is suppose to be my day off, but since I was handed four baby possums Friday at the vets, I was waiting for a call back from Penitentiary Glen Wildlife Rehab Center.
Baby possums are very difficult to hand raise, they do not suckle, the have to be fed drop by drop, make that four baby possums every couple of hours of feeding and making them go potty makes for a LONG, tiring weekend.
I get the call from Penitentiary Glen, they can take the babies. That means a full nights sleep!! I have to make a run to Butler, Pa, so on the way I and a friend of mine drop off the babies (it added a little over an hour to the trip, but it was well worth it.)
The trip goes no problem, it was a nice ride. We barely get out of the car and into the house when a woman shows up.
She brought a 4 pound bag of Wellness Kitten, garbage bags, laundry soap, and cookies. And she wanted to chat ferrets, and see the shelter, which just was not what I wanted. I wanted to make coffee, feed the soup kids, and go soak in the tub. The soup kids got fed, the rest fell by the way side.
I am very grateful for the donations, but this goes back to the whole NO PRIVACY thing that is literally driving me off the deep end.
Then there are the calls that come in from everywhere, now if it is an emergency, I don't mind answering the call at 3 AM and calming a person down and telling them what needs done as a temporary thing till they get to the emergency vet, some people don't even think about calling an emergency vet, they call me because they are panicked.
But the calls from California, Washington, Hawaii, Japan, at midnight, 1 AM, the ones where it is, I would like information about your ferrets, or can I ask some questions about ferrets? They too are driving me nuts.
Like I said I don't mind helping, but folks, Cleveland, Ohio is on Eastern Standard time. Just because it is 6 PM where you are doesn't mean it is an acceptable time to call Ohio.
I am an insomniac, my husband is not. A call at 2 AM may not wake me, but it wakes him up, and that can make for a very irritated husband the next day, and if it happens enough, that makes a very bad situation.

Who could ever treat innocent animals the way that man in Ohio does. I am completely disgusted with the person who is doing this and who ever won't help. I guess that goes to show you how careless some people can be. I can't believe it, again, my mind turns to disgust. I guess some people just don't have a heart. I can't believe that almost everyone Is just sitting on their butt waiting for it to blow over, but guess what, it ain't gonna blow over, It's just gonna get worse and it's not gonna go away. Just like when a animal dies, first, it bloats up befor you descover it,then when you do descover it, it smells so bad you may feel your previous meal slowly screach up your throat, it may go back down or it may go all the way out depending on the person, you know what, the longer you leave it lie there, the more the odor begins to grow and when you finally decide to burry the body, the odor is so intense you feel slightly light headed, the body is now burried but you can still smell that awful smell, the smell might lay in the dirt for a few years untile finaly the wind gets the best of it and the smell that stayed dorment in the dirt for so long has now vannished, but there is a slight chance that an animal dies in the same spot and the whole process starts again. As I said befor "It just depends on the person."
