Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter

Same ol' story, different day different people

Sunday is suppose to be my day off, but since I was handed four baby possums Friday at the vets, I was waiting for a call back from Penitentiary Glen Wildlife Rehab Center.

Baby possums are very difficult to hand raise, they do not suckle, the have to be fed drop by drop, make that four baby possums every couple of hours of feeding and making them go potty makes for a LONG, tiring weekend.

I get the call from Penitentiary Glen, they can take the babies. That means a full nights sleep!! I have to make a run to Butler, Pa, so on the way I and a friend of mine drop off the babies (it added a little over an hour to the trip, but it was well worth it.)

The trip goes no problem, it was a nice ride. We barely get out of the car and into the house when a woman shows up.

She brought a 4 pound bag of Wellness Kitten, garbage bags, laundry soap, and cookies. And she wanted to chat ferrets, and see the shelter, which just was not what I wanted. I wanted to make coffee, feed the soup kids, and go soak in the tub. The soup kids got fed, the rest fell by the way side.

I am very grateful for the donations, but this goes back to the whole NO PRIVACY thing that is literally driving me off the deep end.

Then there are the calls that come in from everywhere, now if it is an emergency, I don't mind answering the call at 3 AM and calming a person down and telling them what needs done as a temporary thing till they get to the emergency vet, some people don't even think about calling an emergency vet, they call me because they are panicked.

But the calls from California, Washington, Hawaii, Japan, at midnight, 1 AM, the ones where it is, I would like information about your ferrets, or can I ask some questions about ferrets? They too are driving me nuts.

Like I said I don't mind helping, but folks, Cleveland, Ohio is on Eastern Standard time. Just because it is 6 PM where you are doesn't mean it is an acceptable time to call Ohio.

I am an insomniac, my husband is not. A call at 2 AM may not wake me, but it wakes him up, and that can make for a very irritated husband the next day, and if it happens enough, that makes a very bad situation.

Thank you Rick!!

Thanks to Rick, our storage locker is in ship shape condition.

We pulled all the stuff out, went through it, re stacked the cages, litterboxes, inventoried everything and threw out things that should have been thrown out, but you end up saving because you are in too much of a hurry to deal with them, or you think, hmm, this may come in handy.

Presently I am tearing into the "living" room and the "quarantine" room, scrubbing, dusting, and going through those small little piles of things that just seem to accumulate.

Thanks again Rick!! Job well done!!
